I need redemption for my soul
To cover me and make me whole
I do so recklessly uphold
A crooked heart in search of gold
But there's an anthem rising up in me
So I sing, I sing to You

Cloudy sky and I'm
Gearing up for another fight
with you.
An angel song
Can't stop the words that come so strong.
Open wide, open wide, and let it fall down on me.
I could tell a tearful tale
of all you've said to me,
And of all the fire I
have thrown right back at you.
There is mercy and it covers me
From a prisoner who died that we be free.
Gearing up for another fight
with you.
An angel song
Can't stop the words that come so strong.
Open wide, open wide, and let it fall down on me.
I could tell a tearful tale
of all you've said to me,
And of all the fire I

Oh, to be lovely
And oh, to be seen
By you who thinks
My breath upon your cheek
Is sweet.
To be lovely in your eyes
That dance,
To dance within your arms
That carry me and cherish me
My face, my frame so small.
To be called "lovely"
In a voice as bold as yours
I see your lips move
In my memory
And both our lips are poised.
To be lovelier even still
The older that we get
And lovelier than
Morning songs
or twinkling sunsets.
I desire a great thing by you
Oh, to be seen
And oh, to be
Lovely, lovely, lovely.
'roundabout 1 o'clock this morning
And oh, to be seen
By you who thinks
My breath upon your cheek
Is sweet.
To be lovely in your eyes
That dance,
To dance within your arms
That carry me and cherish me
My face, my frame so small.

These cold hands are useless
These fists closed tight
My eyes closed tighter
than these cold fists.
I am a sharp-shooter
My aim perfect
My words are sharper
than my aim is.

Expel these demons from my bones
The painful words and worried moans
And hurry in to take their place
And I will sing with words of praise
And grace, o grace, come flowing down
While cymbals play, o love, resound
The demons dark may ever be
Looming, lurking silently
But lift my eyes and I shall see
Your glory shining beautifully
And peace shall be not far away
My King, my God, my Light, my Day

Il n'est pas toujours tout passion et le feu.
Sometimes I expect too much.
It's not always all passion and fire.
Sometimes we have to face the mystery along with the waiting silence.
Sometimes that's how God is.
Sometimes that's how love is.
It's not always about moving mountains or driving hours to be with someone.

So a few years ago, when they changed this thing and made it so that you have to have a Google account, I said, "no way am I doing that! I already have enough "accounts" for various things, I'm not adding another one just to keep this blog!" So I let it go... and now I'm back...I gave in.
Actually, in a way, it's similar to how the rest of my life has been for the past three years. I've let things go. Friendships. Music. College graduation left me in the unknown. I lost my community. I lost my heart for the music that I so dearly loved. I couldn't write anymore. Church was not where I wanted to be on Sunday mornings. Those were things that made me who I was; it was the me that I knew, and I quickly became unfamiliar with myself in this new situation creating me into a new, and not so lovable, person.
Maybe I'm not a new person, but layers have been lifted. I once referred to life changes as a shedding of skins. It's painful. You have to itch, and scratch, and writhe, and be uncomfortable for awhile. It's not something you want to go through, but you have to go through it because you are growing. You no longer fit into your old mold. The new skin is not completely changed-- you still share the same form, but now you are sleeker, sharper, and more firm.
And now, oddly enough, I'm coming back to things. Mentoring youth. Creating music. Listening to God. Writing this blog...
